This week I did fashion illustrations from new and old collections of famous designers such as Chanel, Givenchy, Balmain, Valentino and Marc Jacobs. I’m excited about the new SS 16 collections and I’m open to get inspired but until then, let’s enjoy other pieces.
It’s complicated to explain the process that I go through from seeing a photo on Instagram to drawing something. It’s also funny and anyone could laugh a lot seeing me for hours and hours browsing to find thousands of different angles of someone’s face and bone structure, looks and attitude, until I understand more about the subject.
At first I choose the model that inspires me after I just find some photos of them from recent shootings but this time I chose some shootings from my favorite designers new collections with inspiring models and here’s how I saw and interpreted it in my illustrations.
Lately I saw a contest in Instagram about the Valentino mime bag collection and after I checked the entire collection. It is with a lot of colors, flavors and has a young mood. It’s based on flowers and on Instagram and Pinterest you can find dozens of other illustrations derived from these themes. It’s my own interpretation of the theme. It can be a hat, it can be a crown made of flowers, it can be just imagination.
I found a nice piece of inspiration in Riley Montana’s instagram page. If was from the shooting of the Balmain campaign for AW15. Also, Balmain has a lot of great looks for Fall 2015. I chose this one especially because of the model – I guess usually that’s my main motivation for choosing anything to draw.
I saw a shooting of Alana Zimmer in Harper’s Bazaar Singapore, the March 2015 edition. In the photo she was wearing Givenchy. I also shared some other photos from the same shooting by Yu Tsai.
And the inspiration behind it:
Chanel Resort 2016
I always wanted to do an illustration of Sasha Luss and always check the new shootings that she does. Lately I was checking Chanels new Resort 2016 collection. I found Sasha wearing this dress on the runway, it’s one of the very few pieces that I liked.
It’s not my favorite Chanel collection ever but here it is some favorite looks.
Marc Jacobs Fall 2015
Last but not least, there’s the Marc Jacobs collection for fall 2015 with strong and mostly dark colors. And the model is the gorgeous Sarah Abney.
You can check some of my other illustrations on my Instagram page or on my other articles on The Fashion Jumper! Thank u and enjoy! Leave some notes in the comments about my work if you have any thoughts!
