Today, 21st of June, is Go Skateboarding Day, is the official day to celebrate and promote skateboarding around the world. In the spirit of gliding through life instead of jumping or walking, it’s a wonderful way to enjoy everyday in the city! Here’s to skateboarding and here’s to cruisers, longboards and having fun at any age!
When I don’t walk, I jump. And when I don’t jump, I skate. Or sail. A bit of both. A few weeks ago I got my first skateboard, a cruiser. And from the start, my friend Alex Kaulitz helped me with choosing the best one, giving tips about it and then he taught me how to use it and not fall. In the first few days, I fell three times but I was so excited and full of adrenaline that I just got up and kept skating everytime, ignoring the bruises or anything else.
Lately, we had a lot of fun skating around the city center of Bucharest at sunset. And we thought we should celebrate this Go Skateboarding Day with a photo session that was done together with my good friend AnaMa who has shot skater boys before.
So our cruisers are from Globe Bantam, I got mine from Boarder’s Shop in Bucharest. I am not a pro at this so I am not going to write about skateboarding just yet. I need a looooot more practice and then I will write about my experience with it, still figuring this out.
I’m just going to say that it’s by far the best way to wander around town. And the reason we both have a short board is because it’s easy to carry it into meetings, lunch breaks or anywhere else – Alex works in the music industry as well and he spends his life running between events and meetings and jobs as well. And it’s also a very good way to do more movement and work your body in a healthy way.
